The Small Batch is a home bakery in Columbus, Indiana, run by Irushi Abeysekera. This page explains what the ordering app collects, why, and what happens to it. It is written to be read, not to be impressive.
We do not collect payment card details. Payment is by cash or Venmo, handled directly between you and Irushi. We never see your card or bank information.
To take and fulfil your order, to tell you when a menu is live or your order is ready, and to keep the bakery's own books straight. That is the whole list. We do not sell your information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to build a profile of you anywhere other than in this app.
We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
If you gave us your mobile number and opted in, we use it to send you SMS messages about the weekly menu and your orders. You opt in by ticking the consent checkbox on the signup or order form at thesmallbatchcolumbus.com. The box is unticked by default, and entering your mobile number does not on its own opt you in. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase: you can create an account, place an order and collect it without ticking it.
The sign-in code that verifies your number when you log in is separate from those messages. It is sent through a verification service only when you ask to sign in, and you receive it whether or not you opt in to anything else.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
We do not sell mobile phone numbers or any text-message consent you have given us. Your number is passed only to the messaging provider that delivers the SMS on our behalf, and to no one else. Information sharing with subcontractors who provide support services, such as customer service, is permitted.
Message frequency is roughly 1–3 messages a week, depending on whether you have an order that week. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop, or HELP for help. The full detail is on our text message terms page.
Order records are kept while the bakery is trading, because they are also its business and tax records. Everything else we keep until you ask us to remove it.
Email chamal.a@gmail.com and ask. We will delete your profile, contact details, favourites and notes. We may need to keep the bare financial record of completed orders — the date and the amount — because tax rules require it, but it will no longer be attached to your name or number.
The app is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and update the date at the top.
